About Us

 

This blog has been renamed as Arakan Diary from National Democratic Party for Human Rights (NDPHR, exile, ndphr.net), when the party has been permanently banned in Burma and lack of contribution from its members.

While gathering and sharing of information about Arakan and Rohingya people are crucial, this blog will be maintained by its exile member (Mr. Habib) from Australia..

Aims and Objectives:

  1. To collect and share information from Arakan. 

  2. To strengthen national and international solidarity for the causes of Rohingya

  3. To work in close cooperation with all level of society including government, non-government agencies and civil society groups for the interest of peace and stability in the Burma.

  4. To promote mutual trust and understating in order to make awareness among Rohingya Arakanese expatriates.

Background Info about NDPHR:

The NDPHR party was representing Rohingya Arakanese people that received overwhelming support of Rohingya Arakanese people of Northern Arakan in 1990s multi-party election. NDPHR was the fifth most seats winner in Burma. 

NDPHR was unlawfully banned for its opposition notification (1/90) of the State Law and Order Restoration  Council (SLORC). As a result, party’s were asked to leaders went into exile in order to continue to carry out responsibilities assigned by Rohingya Arakanese people with firm dedication and formed the National Democratic Party for Human Rights (exile) in 2003 at New York City of the United States of America (USA).

NDPHR(exile) branch was taken initiative in 2003 and founded in 2004 by U.S. based Rohingya leader U Maung Sein @ Mohiuddin Yusof.  It has formed its branches in Bangladesh, Danmark, France, and a regional office in Malaysia. Under the guidance of party’s policy and that of leaders, Refugee and Humanitarian Sub-committee was established in the past years.
In Malaysia it was established on the day of International Human Rights Day- 10 Dec 2006.
