Agartala, May 9 (ANI): The Tripura Police has arrested 23 Myanmar nationals from the Melaghar town in Agartala.

The police stated that the arrested belong to the Rohingya community.

"Acting on a tip-off, we found that a group consisting of five men, eight women and 10 children were hiding in the house of one local Kurban Ail in the Indiranagar area of the city and we cordoned the house and arrested all including the owner of the house and another Kashmiri citizen Abdul Rashin Dar," said sub-inspector Uttam Paul.

The arrested Rohingyas informed that they had entered Tripura through Sonamura from Comilla in Bangladesh and were supposed to leave for Kashmir to work as household help there.

A case was registered for their illegal entry into Indian territory without any valid documents and they were produced before a court in Sonamura, which sent seven persons, including the house owner, to jail custody, while the children were sent to a juvenile home in the city.
