TEHRAN – During a meeting with Myanmar’s Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi expressed concern about the conditions that the Rohingya Muslims are experiencing in Myanmar, it was reported on Monday.
TEHRAN – During a meeting with Myanmar’s Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi expressed concern about the conditions that the Rohingya Muslims are experiencing in Myanmar, it was reported on Monday.
Salehi said that Iran is ready to send humanitarian aid for the Muslims
in Myanmar and will welcome a decision to use Iran’s influence to help
defuse tensions in the country.
Myanmar’s foreign minister who has visited Iran to participate in the
Non-Aligned Movement meeting briefed Salehi on the incidents that have
taken place in his country and said that efforts are underway to restore
peace.
He also assured Salehi that Myanmar is committed to respecting people
of all religions and does not regard discrimination against Muslims as
appropriate.
